"You're walking down a dark alley, then suddenly, you're hit from behind! WHAM, BAM! PUPPET SLAM! Your funny bone is broken by a furry little creature with a large shadow. Don't worry though, soon you're left sobbing from a poignant piece constructed entirely from foam and pantyhose! You're confused, delirious, yet entertained. What could this be? It's Asheville's very own Puppet Slam! Short form adult puppetry, anything goes, as long as it Rocks! "
The shows will run from August 4-6, (Thursday through Saturday) at the Magnetic Theater in The Magnetic Field (372 Depot Street in the River Arts District). This is a night of short form puppetry for adults, and promises to be a fun time had by all. Last year's slam sold out it's short run of two shows at the Bebe Theatre, and also packed a full house at LEAF, we are very excited about the opportunity to share such a fun and transcendent art form with the adult community in Asheville. We have received a grant from the Puppet Slam Network for this show, to aid in our mission to bring more puppetry to the Asheville community. Puppetry is not just for kids, it can be moving, hilarious, risque, heart breaking, taboo, thought provoking, and sincere to any audience. The show will consist of about 10 short pieces in two acts featuring local performers and a couple out of town guests. Tickets are 10$ in advance and 12$ at the door, and are available at http://themagneticfield.com
